Wallet

Backup, lock and security

How the key is stored, how to export it, and what to do if something goes wrong.

How the key is stored

The private key is encrypted with AES-GCM under a key derived from your password (PBKDF2) and kept in the extension's local storage. While the wallet is unlocked, the decrypted key lives only in session memory, which Chrome wipes when it closes. It never leaves your device.

Export your key

  1. Popup → Wallet settings → Export private key.
  2. Enter your password. The key is shown once; copy it to a password manager or write it down offline.
  3. Lock the wallet afterwards.

Remove the wallet

Wallet settings → Remove wallet deletes the encrypted key, positions and activity from this browser. Funds stay on-chain and are recoverable only with the exported key.

Lost password

There is no reset. Remove the wallet and import the key you backed up. If you have neither the password nor the key, the funds cannot be recovered by anyone.

Good habits

  • Keep only what you are actively trading in the extension wallet.
  • Lock it when you step away. Rules still alert while locked; they just cannot sell.
  • Install only from the official store listing and follow @use1click for announcements.
